Effective January 1, 2004, a new hotel programme was launched
to replace the World Wide Select Hotel Programme (WSHP).
The new programme is called Global Hotel Value Programme
(GHVP) and will provide you with the best available unrestricted
hotel rates at American Express' participating preferred
partner hotels.

Why change the
World Wide Select Hotel Guide (WSHG)?
The travel industry has changed over the last few years
movign towards a more dynamic purchasing environment and
static rate programmes are no longer relevant in the 2004
business travel market.
We want to offer our clients the most competitive unrestricted
hotel rates available (BAR - Best Available Rates).
How will the
new Global Hotel Value Programme benefit me as a client?
The programme will give our clients access to the best
available unrestricted rates from American Express participating
partners.
Travellers searching and booking via random web sites
waste valuable business time and often end up costing
their companies more.
The GVHP also has a negotiated maximum ceiling rate as
in the past, so the traveller will always know the highest
rate they will pay.
Is the coverage
of hotels as good as the previous World Wide Select Hotel
Guide?
The coverage of hotels has been reduced for 2004 to focus
the distribution of hotel volumes into participating partner
hotels.
The GHVP will still contain all world wide business destinations
to meet our customer requirements, although the number of
hotels per city may be reduced.
Will there still be a printed
or online hotel directory or CD Rom?
With the dynamic pricing of our BAR-rates, it would be impossible
to keep such a directory updates, so there will be no printed,
online or CD Rom directory available.
Will I still get Select Exclusive
and Value Added rates?
There will no longer be Select Exclusive rates as these
have been superseded by dynamic BAR rates.
The negotiated ceiling-rate at some hotels will offer value-added
benefits such as room upgrade or complimentary breakfast.
How do I access the Global Hotel
Value Programme rates?
Travellers and bookers do not need to change their current
booking practices, whether bookings are made via a dedicated
office, call centre or online booking systems, the new GHVP
rates will be automatically offered.
Will the GHVP rates be available
via online American Express products?
Yes, if the online product had access to the Worldwide Select
rates, the new GHVP rates will also be displayed.
